Beautiful, but doesn't stand straight

This tree is beautiful, with all the branches "fluffed" it is full and looks wonderful - but - once we got it up it started to tilt, we straightened it and started putting the decorations on it. After we finished it looked great but the next day it was tilted again, more this time. We actually took wire and wired the pole to the base to try to stabilize it, but again tonight it was leaning even more. I'm afraid we are going to have to remove all the ornaments, mostly very precious family ornaments, and start all over with the tree because it would be horrific if the tree was to fall over and we lose all those family treasures. I'd love to recommend this tree to others from it's appearance, but right now I couldn't recommend it to anyone. It really needs to sit solidly in its base and it doesn't do that. If you have suggestions or solutions to our problem I'd be delighted to hear them, very soon!
