Which Lights Should I Choose?

These lights do not have lamp locks, which means bulbs could come loose more easily than on commercial-grade strings. When removing standard lights from Christmas trees or other greenery, take care to pull gently to avoid snagging and help prevent bulbs from becoming misaligned in their sockets.
Commercial ($$) - Commercial grade incandescent mini lights are built for longevity and heavy use. Unlike standard strings, commercial lights feature an external lamp lock design that prevents bulbs from loosening during installation and removal. They're also constructed with heavier 20-gauge wire (standard strings use 22-gauge), which holds up better to outdoor conditions and allows more strings to be connected end to end. Common Mini Light Terms
Lamp Lock - An internal or external locking mechanism that helps keep bulbs securely seated in their sockets, protecting them from going out due to misaligned connections.
One Light Goes Out, Rest Stay Lit - If a single bulb burns out but its shunt remains intact, the rest of the string will continue to glow. If both the bulb and the shunt are damaged, the full string will lose current and go dark.
Removable Bulbs - Bulbs can be removed from the socket and replaced individually, extending the life of the string.
Wire Gauge - A measure of wire thickness that determines how much electrical current the wire can safely carry. Lower gauge numbers mean thicker wire commercial-grade strings use 20-gauge wire, while standard strings use the thinner 22-gauge.
