StretchNet Pro® by Wintergreen Lighting® is a patented stretchable tree wrap light and Christmas light for columns that covers tree trunks, columns, pillars, and posts in seconds. Built-in clips secure it, no zip ties needed. The stretchable cord woven into the net expands to fit circumferences from 14" to 52" across three sizes. LED only.
How StretchNet Pro® Works
Standard net lights are fixed in size. If the tree trunk you're trying to light is not just the right size, or shaped irregularly, you end up with a gap on one side, excess lights bunched in the front, or drooping lights.
StretchNet Pro® tree wrap lights solve this problem with a revolutionary design change: an elastic cord woven into the net allows it to stretch and conform to the actual shape of a tree. Simple clips at each end lock the net in place around the tree. No zip ties needed. The result is a smooth, uniform distribution of light around the trunk or column, no matter the size or shape.
Tree Trunk Wraps
Start with a flexible measuring tape or a piece of string and measure around the thickest part of the trunk, typically about a foot up from the base. That circumference number is what you're matching to a size.
Three size categories for trees:
For very large trees, connect two sets of StretchNet Pro®s back to back. For more height, connect multiple sets of StretchNet Pro®s end to end up the tree trunk. You can connect up to 216 watts end to end from a single power outlet.
StretchNet Pro® covers 2-3x more trunk area per set than individual string lights spiraled up a trunk — meaning fewer sets, less installation time, and faster cleanup in January. That's the "cover more, with less" advantage: one net replaces what used to take several strands.
Column and Pillar Wrap
StretchNet Pro® isn't limited to trees. The same stretchable construction that handles irregular tree trunks makes it one of the most effective options for decorating porch columns, entry pillars, and exterior posts.
Standard residential columns, the kind framing a front porch or entry, typically measure 12" to 24" around — easily handled by both Medium-sized configurations of StretchNet Pro® column wrap lights. Column wraps are available in warm white and cool white, and the same clip-and-connect system applies: wrap, clip, plug in. Unclip in seconds at the end of the season.
Column wraps offer the same structural advantage over string lights that tree wraps do: no spiral weaving, no strands sliding out of position. The net keeps every bulb evenly distributed across the column face — front, sides, and back — without the repositioning and re-mounting that string lights require after a few weeks outdoors.
StretchNet Pro® vs. Traditional Trunk Lighting
In the past, there were two primary ways to light a tree trunk: inflexible trunk wrap net lights and spiral-wrapped string lights. StretchNet Pro® outperforms both.
Traditional trunk wrap nets are pre-wired rigid nets with fixed dimensions. They work when a trunk matches their exact size — but there's no give. A trunk that's slightly too wide won't close at the back, and irregular shapes, knots, and bulges create gaps the rigid net can't accommodate.
String lights avoid the sizing problem but introduce others. Spiral-wrapping a single trunk typically takes 10—15 minutes. And string lights are known to relax after installation — sliding down the trunk and requiring readjustment after just a few days outdoors. StretchNet Pro® solves all of these problems:
Stretch — The elastic cord conforms to any trunk shape, including knots and bulges. Where a rigid net leaves gaps, StretchNet Pro® expands to fill them.
Speed — Installs and removes 2—3x faster than both traditional trunk wrap nets and string lights. Clips take seconds; no spiral wrapping required.
Coverage — Covers more trunk area per set than string lights — fewer sets, less cord management, more savings.
Hold and release — Clips secure the net snugly against the trunk through the full season — no sliding, no readjusting. At takedown: unclip, fold, store. No unwinding.
Pro Tip:
To wrap very thick trees or for more vertical coverage, connect multiple StretchNet Pro® sets together. It's easy. For a very thick tree, have a partner hold the first StretchNet Pro® set against the tree, then place the second set on the other side of the tree and clip them together. Be sure to line up the plugs. For more vertical coverage, wrap the second set around the tree above the first set; make sure to line up the male plug of the top set with the female plug of the bottom set.
What's the best type of Christmas lights for wrapping tree trunks? For tree trunk wrapping, StretchNet Pro® by Wintergreen Lighting® is the purpose-built solution. Standard string lights require slow spiral wrapping and tend to slide down over time. Fixed-size trunk wrap nets leave gaps on irregular or oversized trunks. StretchNet Pro® uses an elastic cord woven into the net so it stretches to conform to the actual shape of your trunk — no gaps, no bunching, no readjusting mid-season. It clips on in seconds and unclips just as fast at takedown. Available in three sizes to fit trunks from 14" to 52" in circumference.
How is StretchNet Pro® different from standard trunk wrap nets? Standard trunk wrap nets are pre-sized. If your trunk is wider than the net's fixed dimension, it won't close at the back — and there's nothing you can do about it. StretchNet Pro® uses a stretchable cord woven into the net, allowing it to expand and conform to varying and irregular circumferences. It also installs faster (clips rather than ties or velcro strips) and is significantly faster to remove at the end of the season. The elastic construction means one StretchNet Pro® handles a range of trunk sizes, rather than being a precise fit or no fit.
What size StretchNet Pro® do I need? Measure around the widest point of your trunk or column — this is the circumference. Match it to the size guide: Small covers up to 26" around, Medium covers up to 37" around, and Large covers up to 52" around. When in doubt between sizes, go up — a slightly oversized StretchNet still clips and holds securely; an undersized one won't close. Medium comes in two net versions (standard height and taller) that both fit the same circumference range, so choose based on how much vertical trunk you want to cover.
How do I install StretchNet Pro® on a tree? Wrap the net around the trunk, then fasten the clips at the back to close the net. Connect the end plug to power — and that's it. The whole process typically takes under two minutes per trunk.
Can StretchNet Pro® be used on porch columns? Yes — column and pillar wrapping is one of its best applications. Dedicated StretchNet Pro® column wrap lights are available in warm white and cool white, sized specifically for column use. The clip-and-hold system keeps every bulb evenly positioned around the full column face — no spiral wrapping or re-mounting required.
How long does installation and removal take? Most trunks take under two minutes to wrap with StretchNet Pro®. A row of six trees that might take 60—90 minutes to spiral-wrap with string lights can be completed in under 15 minutes. Removal is equally fast: unclip the back, disconnect the plug, fold the net. StretchNet Pro® typically cuts both installation and removal time by 60—70% compared to string lights and by 30—40% compared to traditional rigid trunk nets.
